Back To The Beginning Again chords – Switchfoot V2

 Capo 7
Tuning: Standard
"Back To The Beginning Again" - Switchfoot
*Chords at End

(Verse 1)

  B C#m
I can feel it building up inside,
                A E
the images that plague inside my mind,
 B C#m
The dreams that I've been dreaming all my life,
      A E
The colors that live outside of the lines,
      B C#m
But dreams aren't all I hide beneath the skin,
                      A E
The chord is cut the fears and doubts begin,
    B C#m
My hope is anchored on the other side,
          A E
With the colors that live outside of the lines,

(Chorus 1)

    B C#m A E
And the oceans roar, and the wheels they spin,
   B C#m A E
And Your promises, bring me back, back to the beginning again,

(Verse 2)

 B C#m
Like the corrugated L.A. Harbor stacks,
                         A E
With the weight of these machines across my back,
    B C#m
I know a mountain road where time unwinds,
         A E
But I'm busy living in a single file line,
        B C#m
And it all just sounds like poison on my ears,
                A E
The background noise makes Your voice so hard to hear,
      B C#m
So i grit my teeth and straighten my spine,
      A E
I'm stuck in traffic on a dotted yellow line,

(Chorus 2)

        B C#m A E
And my heart is Yours, and what a broken place it's in,
     B C#m A E
But You're what I'm runnin' for, and i want to feel the wind at my back again

Back to the beginning again...

Love Alone Is Worth The Fight chords – Switchfoot V3

"Love Alone is Worth the Fight" by Switchfoot

This is a pretty simple song. You can play it different ways. For example, I've seen
Jon use the E and E5 interchangeably, but I like using the E to give certain parts more
emphasis, so you can do it however you want. I would recommend listening to a radio
performance to get the strumming. At the bottom I've included a few notes on things you can
add to make it more interesting once you've got this down. Have fun.

Standard tuning, no capo.

Chords:
 B - 7998xx
 E5 - 079900
 E - 022100
 EM7 - 066440
 F# - 2443xx

Intro: B E5 B E5 B E EM7 F# E

Verse 1:
 B
I’m trying to find where my place is

I’m looking for my own oasis
 E5
So close I can taste this

The fear that love alone erases
 B
So I’m back to the basics

I figure it’s time I face this
 E5
Time to take my own advice
(pause) B
Love alone is worth the fight
                         E5
Love alone is worth the fight

Verse 2:
 B
And I never thought it’d come to this

But it seems like I’m finally feeling numb to this
 E5
The funny thing about a name is

You forget what the reason you were playing the game is
 B
And it’s all an illusion

A 21st century institution
 E
So I’m heading down the open road unknown

Chorus:
 B
And we find what we’re made of
 E5
Through the open door
 B
Is it fear you’re afraid of?
 E
What are you waiting for?
                         B E5
Love alone is worth the fight
                         B E5
Love alone is worth the fight

Verse 3:
 B
We’re only here for a season

I’m looking for the rhyme and reason
 E5
Why you’re born why you’re leaving

What you fear and what you believe in
 B
Why you’re living and breathing

Why you’re fighting it and getting it even
 E
Let’s go headed down the open road unknown

Chorus:
 B
And we find what we’re made of
 E5
Through the open door
 B
Is it fear you’re afraid of?
 E
What are you waiting for?
                         B E5
Love alone is worth the fight
                         B E5
Love alone is worth the fight

Then on the last “yeah” you play this (listen for strumming pattern; I recommend an
acoustic/radio performance):

e-------------------------------------|
B-------------------------------------|
G--11/16-16-15-13—-11/16-16-15-13-----|
D-------------------------------------|
A---9/14-14-13-11---9/14-14-13-11-----|
E-------------------------------------|

Outro:
 B
Here we are here we go
 E5
Where the road is our own
 B
Feel it calling you home
 E
Here we are here we go
                         B
Love alone is worth the fight
                         E
Love alone is worth the fight
                         B
Love alone is worth the fight
                         E
Love alone is worth the fight
                         B
Love alone is worth the fight

Notes:
There's a few things you can add in if you want to make the song a little more interesting.

-I like to play the B and e strings open for the second half of strumming the F# in the
intro. I think it sounds more like the song.

-During the verses it sounds like Jon is sort

Slipping Away chords – Switchfoot

 Intro:

 D G x4

Verse 1:

   D G
Remember coming home at four in the morning
 D G
Before the sun was up
 D G
Back when the east was a fire of gold
      D G D
Just waiting for the rest of the sky to fall in love

    G
Yeah

     D G
Our hope is just a metaphor, of something better
     D G
For all of our dreams tonight
     D G D
And fear is just a shadow of the things that matter the most
                     G
And I fear that I'm losing hope tonight

Chorus:

 D
Oh oh
I feel like I'm dreaming
Oh oh
Staring up at the ceiling
 G
Oh oh
It's four in the morning
I can't sleep and it feels like a warning
 D
Oh oh
You wouldn't believe me
If I could say it just the way that I'm feeling
 G
Oh oh
The words that I wanted to say
I feel them slipping away

 D G x4

Verse 2:

   D
Remember that kid with the quivering lip
Whose heart was on his sleeve like a first aid kit
Where are you now? Where are you now?

Remember that kid, didn't know when to quit
I still lose my breath when I think about it
Oh, where'd you go?
     G
(Oh where'd you go?)

Chorus:

 D
Oh oh
I feel like I'm dreaming
Oh oh
Staring up at the ceiling
 G
Oh oh
It's four in the morning
I can't sleep and it feels like a warning
 D
Oh oh
You wouldn't believe me
If I could say it just the way that I'm feeling
 G
Oh oh
The words that I wanted to say
I feel them slipping away

Bridge:

 Bm D
I know this isn't what you wanted
                               G
Past words in the present are haunting us now

And on and on and on and on
 Bm D
My heartbeat could tell you it's urgent
                        G
I try to shout but the words don't come out

Chorus:

 D
Oh oh
I feel like I'm dreaming
Oh oh
Staring up at the ceiling
 G
Oh oh
It's four in the morning
I can't sleep and it feels like a warning
 D
Oh oh
You wouldn't believe me
If I could say it just the way that I'm feeling
 G
Oh oh
The words that I wanted to say
I feel them slipping away

Back To The Beginning Again chords – Switchfoot

 Intro:

 E B E B x4

Verse 1:

 B G#m
I can feel it building up inside
     B E
The images that play inside my mind
     B G#m
The dreams that I've been dreaming all my life
     E B
The colors that live outside of the lines
     F# G#m
But dreams aren't all I hide beneath this skin
     B E
The cord is cut, the fears and doubts begin
    F# G#m
My hope is anchored on the other side
          E B
With the colors that live outside of the lines

Chorus:

         F# G#m
And the oceans roar
         E B
And the wheel's in spin
         F# G#m
And the old chorus soars
          E B
Bring me back, bring me back to the beginning again

Verse 2:

          F# G#m
With the corrugated LA harbor stacks
          B E
With the weight of these machines across my back
   F# G#m
I know a mountain road where time unwinds
         E B
But I'm busy living in a single-file line
        F# G#m
And it all just sounds like poison on my ears
     B E
The background noise makes your voice so hard to hear
      F# G#m
So I grit my teeth and straighten up my spine
     E B
I'm stuck in traffic on a dotted yellow line

Chorus 2:

        F# G#m
And my heart is yours
     E B
And what a broken place it's in
     F# G#m
But you're what I'm running for
       E B
And I want to feel the wind at my back again

Bridge:

                        E

                                    F
With a salt water heart, oh whoa oh
         Bb
It’s an abstract thought but I’ve been thinking non-stop
           G Bb
’bout the fact that my body’s made most out of rain drops
                                    F
With a salt water heart, oh whoa oh
