Stealing Tomorrow chords – Great Lake Swimmers V3

 (Adapted from Version 1)

D TUNING - D A F C G D (Full step down from Standard Tuning)

The Cadd9 and Gadd9 are little aesthetic climbs that mimic of the bass line. I didn't add them throughout
the song, even though they appear throughout. Ignore them if you'd like.
Spelling variations (typos) are deliberate; they help to match the vocal timing to the guitar.

Across The Great Divide
Kate Wolf
Close to You
1981

Capo I

[Intro]

 G C G G G G /F# Em C G G G /F# Em C D G

[verse 1]

 G C G
I've been walking in my sleep
 G G/F# Em C
Counting troubles instead of counting sheep
 G G G /F# Em
Where the years went, I can't say
        C D G
I just turned around and they've gone away

[verse 2]

And I've been sifting through the layers
Of dusty books and faded papers
They tell a story I used to know
And it was one that happened so long ago

[chorus 1]

( G ) G C G
It's gone away in yesterday
 G G/F# Em C
And I find myself on the mountainside
           G G/F# Em
Where the rivers change direction
 C D G
Across the great divide

[verse 3]

Now I heard the owl calling
Softly as the night was falling
With a question, and I replied
But he's gone across the borderline

[chorus 2]

He's gone away in yesterday
And I find myself on the mountainside
Where the rivers change direction
Across the great divide

[solo/break] (verse)

[verse 4]

The finest hour that I have seen
Is the one that comes between
The edge of night and the break of day
It's when the darkness rolls away

[chorus 1] (X2)

It's gone away in yesterday
And I find myself on the mountainside
Where the rivers change direction
Across the great divide

It's gone away in yesterday
And I find myself on the mountainside
Where the rivers change direction
 C D G
Across the great divide...

CHORUS:

          G C G
Does the World really need another protest song?
 Em C D
Sing about everything going wrong
     G C G
The revolution has come and gone
          Em C D G
Does the world really need another protest song?

VERSE:

 Em D/F# G C
I want to sing for singing's own sake,
 C Am
I want to carry a tune.
 Em D/F# G C
No message to give, no message to take,
   C D G
A melody will do.

[chords for the rest of the song continue as above ....]

Does the World really need another protest song?
Sing about everything going wrong
The revolution has come and gone
Does the world really need another protest song?

I want a rhythm that moves my feet
wild as the river runs.
I've never wanted to march to the beat
Of somebody else's drum.

Does the World really need another protest song?
Sing about everything going wrong
The revolution has come and gone
Does the world really need another protest song?

I'll tell you a story with this old guitar,
Just three chords and the truth.
Every good story is laced up with lies,
And the best of those lies are half truth

Does the World really need another protest song?
Sing about everything going wrong
The revolution has come and gone
Does the world really need another protest song?

Does the World really need another protest song?
Sing about everything going wrong
The revolution has come and gone
Does the world really need another protest song?
Does the World really need another protest song?

Say Something Tabs by A Great Big World V4

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SAY SOMETHING - A Great Big World
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

: Michael Gilbert
 mjgj96@aim.com

Tuning: Drop D (lowest pitch to highest: DADGBe)
Tune so that the following two notes sound the same:

e|---|
B|---|
G|---|
D|---|
A|-0-|
D|-7-|

It's a very simplistic song, adding more to the message that it has. Personally, I think
the duet with Christina Aguilera diminishes the impact of the song concerning its
message in comparison to the original with one vocalist, but that's just one person's opinion.

To help sing along with the song while playing, think of the beats between each strum of
D on the B-string (3rd fret) in 3/4 time, with emphasis on the first beat. I'll give an
example using tildes and (beat #s) to signify the beats of the imaginary 3/4 time within
the real time signature (if that makes no sense, just disregard the numbers in parenthesis):

   (1) (2) (3) (1) (2) (3) (1) (2) (3) (1) (2) (3) (1) (2)..
Say some- thing I'm giv - ing up on you ...
e|--~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~---|--~-----~...
B|--3-----~-----~-----3-----~-----~-----3-----~-----~-----3-----~-----~---|--3-----~...
G|--~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~---|--~-----~...
D|--~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~---|--~-----~...
A|--2-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~---|--~-----~...
D|--~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~-----5-----~-----~-----~-----~-----~---|--0-----~...

It should be relatively easy to incorporate the "imaginary 3/4 time" with the real time
signature as the song's bpm (beats per minute)

Standing at the limit of an endless ocean
                 B
stranded like a runaway, lost at sea
              A
sitting on a rainy day down in the harbor
                 B
watching as the grey clouds shadow the bay
              A
looking everywhere 'cause I had to find you
                 B
this is not the way that I remember it here
             A
anyone will tell you it's a prisoner island
               B
hidden in the summer for a million years

                 C#m
Great Southern Land, burned you black

                      A
So you look into the land and it will tell you a story
               B
story 'bout a journey ended long ago
                      A
if you listen to the motion of the wind in the mountains
               B
maybe you can hear them talking like I do
                      A
". . they're gonna betray you, they're gonna forget you
                        B
are you gonna let them take you over that way . ."

                 C#m
Great Southern Land, Great Southern Land
you walk alone, like a primitive man
and they make it work, with sticks and bones,
see their hungry eyes, it's a hungry home.

 Abm
I hear the sound, of the stranger's voices,
I see their hungry eyes, their hungry eyes
                C#m
Great Southern Land, Great Southern Land
they burned you black, black against the ground

Standing at the limit of an endless ocean
stranded like a runaway, lost at sea
sitting on a rainy day down in the harbor
watching as the grey clouds shadow the bay

looking everywhere .... I had to find you
this is not the way that I remember it here
anyone will tell you it's a prisoner island
hidden in the summer for a million years

                C#m
Great Southern Land, in the sleeping sun
you walk alone with the ghost of time
they burned you black, black against the ground
and they make it work with rocks and sand

 Abm
I hear the sound, of the stranger's voices,
I see their hungry eyes, their hungry eyes
C#m --> [all the way to the end]
Great Southern Land, Great Southern Land
they burned you black, black against the ground

 A
I found Jesus
 B E
And He gave to me a crown
 A
It gives me power
 D A
So you can polish my stone
 A B A
Mr. Devil leave my crown and me alone

 A
You have tried my faith
 D A
And you have won a time or two
 A D
Mr. Devil, I’m growing tired of you

So won’t you leave me alone

I’ve got work to follow through

Don’t you tell me

What I can and cannot do

Chorus:
I found Jesus
I have laid my burdens down
I found Jesus
And He gave to me a crown
It gives me power
So you can polish my stone
Mr. Devil leave my crown and me alone

You have called my name
In the lonely midnight hour
Knocked upon my door
And found me there
And I used to tremble
But those days are gone
Mr. Devil I am no longer scared
