The Band With No Name Tabs by Ten Years After

THE BAND WITH NO NAME – Ten Years After

Tuning: standard

'The Band With No Name' is a short (1:36) guitar instrumental comprising 36
bars: a 4-bar intro and two 8-bar themes, both of which are repeated. Think
of it as an Alvin Lee meets Ennio Morricone piece. It certainly wouldn't be
out of place on the soundtrack of a Sergio Leone spaghetti western or even a
Quentin Tarantino movie.

Tuning: standard

'My Baby Left Me' comprises three chords: D, C & G. Conventional wisdom would dictate
that this is a V-IV-I progression in the key of G. However, the riffs & solos are in D
which instead indicates that this is the true key signature of the song. Thus we have
A I-bVII-IV progression in D, that is, D-C-G.

For the solos (not detailed here), Alvin eschews his usual rapid-fire approach and
instead adopts a less-is-more technique, substituting feel, repetition & vibrato for
his (10th fret) D minor pentatonic phrases.

Ten Dollar Christmas chords – Christopher Shaw

 Intro: ( with Harmonica)

It was the first snow of the year and all that you could hear

                    G C F C
were your own foot steps in the wet and heavy snow.

 C F
It’s been almost 40 years John Roberts rangered around here.

              G C F C
He was the sort of man that everybody knows.

   Am Em
Heading home on Friday night, in the fading winter light,

       F G G
With the weekend and Christmas on his mind.

 C F
When in the freshly fallen snow, there were the footprints of old Joe,

         G C F C
and a spruce stump, fresh cut and left behind.

(with Harmonica)
 C C F F G G C F C C F G
Joe Carson never had much luck. Some might say he had it rough; seven children

                         C F C
he never had a steady job.

 C F
But as John stood there at his door, he clenched his teeth and then he swore,

                 G C F C
“Not even this man should stand above the law.”

    Am Em
So in a steamy room inside, where puppies ran and babies cried.

         F G
He hit Carson with a stiff ten dollar fine.

  C F
And Carson said, “that cleans me out.” And Johnny had his doubts

                    G C F C
of Christmas morning and what Joe’s kids might find.

    Am Em
As he headed for the door, he spied a pup there on the floor.

          F G G
He picked it up and turned to Carson once again.

    C F
He said, “my nephew wants a pup. And it looks like he’s in luck.

 G C F C
I’ll take this one.” And he handed Joe a ten.

(with Harmonica)
 C C F F G G C F C C F
Later on, on Sunday night on a corner ‘neath a street light,

               G C F C
doesn’t John run into Joe on his way home.

 C F
He said, “since the other night when you came by, it’s been a sight!

                G C F C
I’ve sold eight pups now, what’s that go to show?”

 Am Em
“News travels fast here in the woods, Joe, I hope your Christmas is good.”

 F G G
And for a moment, they just stood there in the snow.

    C F
And then Joe stuck out his hand. He said, I hope your day is grand.

 G
Merry Christmas to you, Johnny.”

(no chord) C G C
“Merry Christmas to you, Joe.”

Ten Thousand Angels chords – Loretta Lynn

 Ten Thousand Angels
Recorded by Loretta Lynn
Written by Ray Overholt

 G C G
He could have called ten thousand angels

                                      D7 G
They bound the hands of Jesus in the garden where He prayed
      C G
They led Him through the streets in shame
                              D7 G
They spat upon the Savior so pure and free from sin
           Am D7 G
They said crucify Him He's to blame

 G7 C G
He could have called ten thousand angels

To destroy the world and set Him free
 G7 C G
He could have called ten thousand angels
                    D7 G
But He died alone for you and me

                             D7 G
Upon His precious head they placed a crown of thorns
      C G
They laughed and said behold the king
                                         D7 G
They struck Him and they cursed Him and mocked His holy name
         Am D7 G
And all alone He suffered everything

Nine Out Of Ten chords – Caetano Veloso

Tom: C Dm - C - Bb - G

Walk down Portobello road to the sound the reggae
I'm alive
The age of gold, yes the age the age of old
The age of gold
The age of music is past
I hear them talk as is walk a hear them talk
I hear they say
Expect the final blast
Walk down Portobello road to the sound the reggae
I'm alive

I'm alive and vivo muito vivo, vivo, vivo
Feel the sound of music banging in my belly, belly, belly
And I Know that one day I must die
I'm alive
Yes I know that one day I must die
I'm alive

I'm alive and vivo muito vivo, vivo, vivo
In the Eletric Cinema or on the telly, telly, telly
Nine out of ten movie stars make me cry
I'm alive
nine out of ten film stars make me cry
I'm alive
